Senior Chemist Research Associate

Description: Responsible for reagent inventory management and
distribution throughout a multi-building site servicing
approximately 250+ chemistry staff. Accountable for leading reagent
staff to meet the delivery service needs of our customers. A
primary goal is to enable scientific efficiency by carrying out
non-core activities/work for scientist. Leadership capability must
be customer service oriented with an ability to work within a
matrix organization. A key role is to provide creative and flexible
approaches to problem solving and lead through personal initiative.
Success is attained when both Discovery and Business Services work
seamlessly to meet AZ R&D goals.
Own and maintain the site ERM/RMM program. This is including the
software, hardware, and areas that support.
Work closely with customers ensuring reagent requests are
distributed accurately and on time.
Manage and administer the BioHub ERM service. Manage all aspects
of the program and monthly billing.
Receive all incoming reagents into site ERM program. Identify
and segregate the reagents for proper handling, storage and
Evaluates workload and schedules OSP resources as necessary to
meet customer demand.
Responsible to comply with safety regulations, procedures and
process are followed by the reagent team members(s).
Work as site controlled substance officer and program
Management of reagent storerooms and satellite delivery/pickup
Required to cross train within the logistic and laboratory
services departments. Become fully trained in all aspects of
material handling and lab support services. Receive DOT and IATA
certifications in the shipping of dangerous goods. Certifications
to be obtained within 12 months of employment unless agreed to
otherwise by AZ management.
Responsible for maintaining all required documentation in
support of the RCRA, IATA, and DOT regulations
Monitors and manages export controls for site. Subject matter
expert for chemical exports. Manage EEI forms when needed.
Generates and maintain SOPs for inventory and distribution
Familiar with electronic lab notebook software with ability to
read chemical structures and ability to understand experiments.
Monitor and manage to within budget. Confirm expenditures are
properly coded to general ledger accounts.
At all times wear approved P.P.E. / safety clothing and
equipment and follow all safety rules and regulations.
Demonstrate supervisory leadership abilities through interaction
with coworkers. Ability to work as a team player.
Ensures all work, including contract work, conforms to
AstraZeneca, local, state and federal rules and regulations
Bachelors Degree in related field
3-5 years of experience performing similar roles.
Demonstrated technical experience with the identification,
segregation, handling, storage and disposal of chemicals or
