Site Reliability Engineer - Defense Analytics

You will be based in one of our North America offices as a member of the product team, (together with a solution leader, tech lead, product engineers, designers, data scientist) shaping and building a new analytics hub to create and deploy analytics solutions across our defense and security clients on some of their toughest issues, in a fast-paced, non-hierarchical and caring environment.

You will have exposure to the client leadership team serving defense and national security clients, senior McKinsey leaders and consultants, as the solution is developed and brought to new clients.

In addition to the defense analytics product team, you will work with our broader ecosystem of data and analytics experts within the Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) practice. The team has grown to 300+ colleagues globally over the last four years. It is a unique mix of public sector and healthcare experts, statisticians, engineers, data scientists and more.

We are redefining what it means for clients to work with McKinsey by driving innovation through advanced analytics, user experience design thinking, and new product development.

You will help the product team in shaping and building a new analytics hub to create and deploy analytics solutions across defense and security clients.

In this role, you will have the chance to shape the solutions/assets you build, working closing with your teammates. You will work with product engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations in the Defense Analytics Domain (DAD) - a suite of analytical tools built to serve clients within the defense space. You will be responsible for adhering to the life cycle asset management process throughout the entire life cycle of new assets within DAD.

You will participate in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans. You will participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers as well as develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria. You will participate in the final check-out of new installations including site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications. You will guide efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems.

You will assist in the development of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and station maintenance plans that are in support of any safety initiatives of the operating departments.

This role requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a certain level of security clearance mandated by the relevant U.S. government branch or agency.

  • Degree in computer science, engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in IT preferably in client-server virtual systems engineering and architecture with a focus on security and high availability
  • 3+ years of experience with DevOps practices and toolset (e.g. Bash, Python, Terraform, Ansible, Packer, git, Lambda, CodeDeploy, CircleCI, Vault, Jenkins/Travis, CI/CD delivery models)
  • 3+ years of experience with Amazon web services (e.g. VPC, ELB, RDS, S3, Route53, Auto-Scaling, EKS, User Data Analytics a plus (Redshift, EMR, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience managing Linux based environment
  • 2+ years of experience with docker containerization platforms and Kubernetes or other orchestration product (Docker, Helm, Quay)
  • Experience working with Multi-Cloud Platforms and Services (AWS, Azure), Docker, Kubernetes and microservices
  • Experience in automation of provisioning, quality controls, security auditing and maintenance
  • Experience with Networking, SSL, load balancing, WAFs, SMTP, DNS
  • Knowledge of data platforms (ETL) and distributed computation platforms
  • FedRAMP / FISMA exposure and experience is a plus
  • Experience working in Agile teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • SECRET or TS/SCI clearance is a plus
  • US Citizenship
